MyPhone Agua Rio Lite is the Rio's cheaper brother

After releasing the Agua Infinity a week ago, MyPhone is back with yet another Android Jelly Bean smartphone. This time, the company is eyeing the bargain-basement segment with the MyPhone Agua Rio Lite, which, as the name implies, is meant to deliver nearly the same quad-core experience as its bigger and equally-colorful predecessor for a thousand pesos less. It retails for P3,999 and is now available in stores nationwide in a choice of five colors: black, white, blue, red, and orange.
Being the cheaper model, obviously, it's not without compromises. With the Agua Rio Lite, you're getting a slightly smaller 4.7-inch WVGA touch display with IPS technology, a 5-megapixel rear camera, and 512MB of RAM. By contrast, the MyPhone Agua Rio sports a 5-inch, high-resolution IPS panel, an 8-megapixel rear-facer, and double the RAM (1GB).
The Agua Rio Lite's onboard storage remains limited to 4GB, although it's expandable via microSD cards up to 32GB in capacity. You're also looking at the same 2,000mAh battery found inside its pricier brother, which, in theory, should result in above-average runtimes given its choice of components. Another good news: MediaTek's MT6582 chip, with a quad-core Cortex-A7 processor and Mali-400 graphics; it's the same trio responsible for the slick performance of the Agua Rio.
If the latter—which, in our opinion, is one of the best budget devices on the local market—is any indication, the MyPhone Agua Rio Lite may be worth the look.
